3 commercials to share
February 10, 2009
Last year I booked a Chevron talking car commercial, "Options," I am the voice of the blue Scion. They started playing the commercial this year and it aired nationally during the Super Bowl. Erin Coker and I are in a commercial for Doritos that was a finalist in the "Crash the Super Bowl" contest. Unfortunately it did not win and air during the Super Bowl, but Doritos has picked up the finalists and is airing all 5 of the commercials nationally. Our is, "Too Delicious." I booked a national commercial with Starkist Tuna. It showcases their new "Starkist Seasations," say that 3 times fast.

September 4, 2008
This is the first time that the Sri Lanka Trilogy, the first three installments of my solo show, "Taste of Enlightenment," will be woven together and performed as a single hour length piece. Plus, you can see the other Studio 300 Fringe Festival performers as well! I had a great experience last year performing at the Marin Fringe Festival and received awards for Best Actress (1st Place), Best Director (David Ford, 2nd Place), and Best Play (3rd Place) for "Temporary Illusion," installment #1 of "Taste of Enlightenment." You can go to the Fringe Festival website link below for more details about the play, the festival, and performance times and dates.

News from David Firshein
February 3, 2008
Friends, I got news yesterday afternoon from my relatives back east; I am going to New Jersey this morning. My Uncle Harold just died, and I have chosen to go be there for a few days for the funeral and family visits. My Uncle Harold was 4 days shy of 95. He had a long and very happy life, unusually successful in his marriage to his wife, my Aunt Kitty, for well over 60 years. They were clearly happy together and clearly loved each other. She truly misses him now, as do we all. It's a big event for me and others, in many ways. A true passing of an era. Even if we live a long time, we all "go" some day, and most of us never quite know when until perhaps the end. Plus as near as I can tell, it all seems like the same moment anyway, when we see one of our tribe, cross over to the other side. I want to share that this brings me ever closer to seeing how important it is to create / learn / choose to enjoy the moment, aim to do what we really really want and care about in our heart of hearts, as much as possible, now, today, live fully, make every moment count, and share the love in our hearts with each other, without holding back. Not to discount our circumstances or life challenges or personalities, but still to aim for that as much as we can, and to increase that every day, bigger than the circumstances or perceived reality. I pray for grace that I can do this better from now on, which I know will give me more love to spread around. Love, David Firshein
HP Photo database shoots
January 22, 2008
HP wants "real" people of all types and ages for their ads. They generally pay up to $700 a day. They are particularly interested in families. They are also interested in people with acting experience as they might start picking from the database for training videos, etc. Go to www.creative-i.com/italent ("more info" link below) to find out the database shoot dates in San Jose, Walnut Creek, and SF. They are shooting continually so Shari recommends going every 2 months to stay fresh in the database.

Anafaith's CD
December 2, 2006
Hi there Shari Carlson Studio artists. I am having a holiday sale on my CD "Anatomy of a Relationship"on CDBaby through Dec. 25th. It is a beautiful - inside and out- gift for loved ones(including you)! One of my customers in NY had bought 42 CDs. She passes them out like candy to friends and doesn't have to think about gifts. You can also buy them from me directly by e-mailing me @ anafaith@anafaith.com. I am also on iTunes. Just type in "Anafaith" in your iTunes music store. Customer review for "Anatomy of a Relationship": "Anafaith has a unique voice that permeates the heart. A voice that lifts you up like a wave, and carries you along its unpredictable grooves, supporting you, and landing you gracefully. There are vocal sounds reminding me of Dido, Sarah McLaughlin, even a little Tracy Chapman, but all rolled into Anafaith's own personal style. Her expression comes across smoothly and beautifully, and with accents of cello, violin, piano, and guitar. This CD is arranged like a great show!" - Teresa M. Fasulo Go to to the link below( www.cdbaby.com/anafaith) to read more or post your own and listen. Thanks everyone,& Happy Holy-daze, Anafaith

Gustopher - Episode 2
September 26, 2006
Hello, all- Thank you for all your viewings, votes, and comments on Gustopherís pilot episode. I really appreciate it. We are learning as we go, and one thing weíve learned is that it is really helpful if viewings and votes are done within 48 hours of when we post the episode. Not that you canít view or vote after that period (please still do) but in order to get on the pages weíre aiming for (i.e. Most Viewed, Highest Rated, etc) it needs to happen within 48 hours. Once on those pages, itís the olí snowball effect. Itís free, quick and easy to sign-up on YouTube, which then allows you to vote and post comments. Please forward to anyone with a sense of humor, or even just anyone who youíve heard laugh once. Here is the link to Episode 2 ìGustopher Pounds the Pavementî: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbcsCXc2ftQ For those of you who didnít get a chance to see Episode 1 ìGustopher Gets Himself One Hot Dateî, here is the link (it may help explain who the hell Gustopher is): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Tb5qjeBps Thank you! Joe
Juana Gets Signed and Co-stars with a Rat
September 18, 2006
I'm one happy camper to have just been signed by one of L.A.'s top commercial agencies, Commercials Unlimited. I met w/ Randi Rubenstein and Richard Reiner (brother of Rob) a few weeks ago to seal the deal. They loved the pic Shari called my "money shot". Remember, Shari? I also got to stretch my acting muscles as the lead in two indies. In the "The Hunters", I had a gun held to my head during a hostage situation and in "El Rey", my co-star was a real, live brown rat for whom I made dinner, watched TV, sang to sleep with a Spanish lullabye and finally kissed . . . on the lips! And, oh, did I mention I spoke w/ a "Spanish accent" for "El Rey". Now, that was a stretch!
Gustopher Gets Himself One Hot Date
September 12, 2006
Hello, all-My friend Sam and I are creating a web show (5 to 8 minute episodes) for YouTube.com and we need your help. We just finished our ìpilotî episode and we need you to do the following: - Watch it. Then, if you like it, do one or all of the following: - Rate it (to do so, youíll need to create a YouTube account which is quick, easy, and free). - Post a comment (ditto). - Send it out to many others (no ditto). In order to get on the ìMost Viewedî page of the web site, we need to create a large audience in a short period of time. In order to create a large audience in a short period of time we need a lot of people to give it high ratings and strong comments. We will then post new episodes each week. Here is the link to the pilot entitled ìGustopher Gets Himself One Hot Dateî: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Tb5qjeBps Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for the support! Joe

Juana's 'Tarantino Connection', Brigade of Fools @ CBS Studios & new 'Blog' page
June 25, 2006
It was definitely a 'Hollywood moment' this past Father's Day when as I sat w/ a handful of other actors eating dinner w/ Tony Tarantino, his son, Quentin called to wish him a happy one. Why was I even at dinner w/ Quentin's Dad? Well, he chose me for the attorney role at an upcoming table reading for his new $150 million film project, 'Prism'. This unique evening was a lesson in being specific when asking The Universe to manifest things in your life. Check out my new 'Blog' page at mizjuana.com for 'specifics'. On another note, I'm having a great time being silly & outrageous as a member of the new improv troupe, Brigade of Fools, which meets on the CBS Radford Studios lot. It's neat driving by all the Sound Stages and dreaming of being in a CBS sitcom next Spring. That would be my dream 'job'. Plus, I live just 3 minutes away.

Some of you may have caught me as a meth addict on the season finale of ER, with a mouthful of blood no less! I am awash in films right now. AMERICAN ZOMBIE, POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES, FMRL, OAKLEY 7 and THE PROCRASTINATORS are all films currently in production that I appear in. Stay posted for where they will be appearing. In other news I'm in rehearsals for the play LA BETE at Sacred Fools Theatre Company, and it looks to be a very funny, very insightful show. CANDYCE ON BROADCAST NEWS
May 18, 2006
Yesterday I made my debut on Lighthouse for the Blind's radio broadcast at 8:30 a.m. Another woman and I take turns reading the Chronicle to the blind -- items mainly based in the Bay Area, some Business news, Jon Carroll, Dear Abby, whatever -- and it's a blast! We get to pick the items we're going to read, too, whatever strikes our fancy. So I get to read my morning paper, help the blind, and get valuable experience, all at once. Couldn't be better! It's KTVU Ch. 2 and you can listen to it through your TV somehow. (I haven't figured this out yet.)
Juana's First Major Motion Picture Role .... plus lots of other BIG news!
May 15, 2006
A great big thankyou to Shari for her insightful coaching advice which helped me land the waitress role in my first major motion picture, 'Morgen Tomorrow', starring former child actor, Corey Feldman. Go to imdb.com for more info. Also, 'Slapdash', my latest feature film, just won Best Comedy at the Cosmos International Film Fest in Florida. And I've just moved! to a lovely home in Studio City where I'll be digging up my landlord's garden for HGTV's 'Weekend Warriors'. This was a magical move. Other BIG news is the creation of 'Immersion Hollywood'. The site just went up and there's now only 4 spots available. Check it out if you're considering taking your acting career to the next level in L.A.

Stay in town over the holidays, and you'll get a great gig! The job was in L.A. with Stiletto Entertainment, who produces Holland America's shows. Really nice company to work with, and a great cast and creative team!

Got my first L.A. film and an agent !
January 6, 2006
Yeah! I'll be shooting my first L.A. film in January. It's an AFI project about a Mexican couple who are cooks at an American run Iraqi prison where they befriend one of the prisoners .... a 12 yr. old boy. This will be my 2nd all Spanish film .... which is quite an accomplishment given that I disdained speaking Spanish when I first started working w/ Shari. I also was signed in November by the Lane Agency. I'm a very grateful and happy camper.
Testimonial
January 6, 2006
Shari Carlson's singing class has been an incredible experience for me. The benefits have been innumerable. But most of all, I have learned to trust my own voice and this has made all the difference in both my relationships and my art making.
SHARI'S GUIDANCE DOES IT AGAIN-- I booked 2 National Commercials & I episodic in the last 6 weeks
December 13, 2005
Wow, just when I was " getting out of the Biz", I called Shari and asked for guidance. Shari told me 4 things to do. I committed to them and took the ACTIONS! Getting out of my way I booked "COLD CASE", COMCAST, and Three commercials/ print/ internet/ v.o., etc. for "CAMPUS LADIES" a new show airing in Jan. 2006 on the Oxygen Channel about two middle aged women going back to college to do all the things they wished they had done their first time thru college. AS HAPPY AS I COULD BE ABOUT ALL THIS, THE BEST WAS STILL TO COME ! After shooting two 14 hour days for "Campus Ladies", playing a middle aged cheerleader, the Producer,Adversing Agents, and Director called the Casting Director and said "Damara is Fabulous. She is the most professional actress we have had the pleasure of working with in years. Damara is extrodinarily funny and we have created several special spots for her." The Casting Director then called my agents and they were thrilled. THANK-YOU SHARI FOR ALL YOUR INTUITIVE GUIDANCE. AND FOR YOUR CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO HELP INDIVIDUALS EXPRESS THEIR UNIQUE TRUTH !!!!!! STAY WONDERFUL, DAMARA REILLY
Things are finally coming together...

Log on to my website under news and reviews for details. I've got some great new head shots that have already gotten me 3 film auditions this week and I have an industry referral for a theatrical agent at The Gage Group. I feel very good and prepared for 2006. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

Greetings from Germany
October 11, 2005
Greetings from Germany. I just looked through your website. It looks fantastic and it is so nice to see so many familiar names and faces. It is also great to see so much progress. I am proud to have been a small part of your studio and world, and am sure you are proud of the growing that it has done. Life here is good. I am married one year and working steadily as an actor. My wife is a hard working stage, film and TV actress and I hope that you can meet her on our next trip to the U.S. She is everything that I waited so many years patiently for and nothing like I had imagined. Just like life, isn't it? I am happier than I can express. My soul sings. My inner child sings along. I send love to anyone who might remember me and love to those I've never met. And especially to you, Shari, who spun me around and sent on my path - inward. Thank you. With Love, Always Love, Tom Tucker

Hello out there!
September 23, 2005
Hi Everyone! I really enjoyed reading what everyone has been up to... Well, things are terrific here in New York City. I have been working professionally as a voice over artist and I love it. Right now you can hear me on Lifetime TV doing promos and also on 1010am Radio, but you won't know it's me :-)! Oh, I gladly lost all of those pesky pounds I used to hide myself away and am starting to do some print work too. Anyway, thank you all for your support and I still carry you and my experience at the Studio with me. Wishing you all the best! Anandah

Hello Shari, it has been a long time since class, and even a longer time since we both met in San Francisco. But am back in theatre here in Portland, Oregon performing and even getting paid for it this time. Tonight is our opening night and the world premiere of the play called "Elliot" A Soldier's Fugue. The playwright is Quiara Algeria Hudes from New York City. The play itself has been workshoped at the Goodman Theatre, and the Kennedy Center. It's three generations of combat veterans, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq all in this fugue. I guess you know which one am playing. It really feels good to be back in the saddle again. I read the news letter that Damara wrote, I guess she'll see this one Hello Damara congrats on all your good fortune in the business. Bye, Bye for now Shari, I'll be in touch, all the best.

Got a Publisher!
September 9, 2005
I hope you and all of the studio folks are well. I just wanted to share some good news with you, since you were helping guide me during the hard times. My novel, /The Missing/, has found a publisher! Carroll & Graf in New York will be putting it out in late 06/early 07. I'll be working with an editor who's a friend of mine and who's very enthusiastic about the book, having read the manuscript back when he was living in SF. He's kind of the up and coming hot gay editor in NY. So I'm very happy. It took a lot of work -- and there's more to come; I have cuts to do -- but things are now moving in a very positive direction. Thank you for your advice and support.
Bookings, Website and such.....
August 21, 2005
I signed with a wonderful commercial agent, Stella Archer w/Lane Agency on July 26 and I booked my first national commercial for AARP last week. Stella has a wonderful philosophy about auditioning...she says it's not about booking the job, it's about making the contacts/relationship with the CD...which takes the pressure off and which is the truth about auditioning. I'm also in a great play, well people either love it or hate it and that goes for my character as well. It has turned into a wonderful, tight ensemble piece that I get to do 4 nights a week for 6 weeks.XXX Love Act by Cintra Wilson Review: Jacob Clark in the recent Metro LA...There is not a weak link in the acting ensemble. Tricia Allen, Algernon D'Ammassa, Taylor Dooley, Joseph Gilbert, Rudy King, Perry Smith and Bill Wingard each give award-quality performances. Taken together, they are certainly a contender for the Ovation and LA Weekly Awards' Best Ensemble category. I've got a film, Cabin 6, directed by Mike McCaffery, that will be screening at the LA International Shorts Festival on Tuesday, September 13 @ 3:30 PM @ the Arc Light in Hollywood. And an infomercial, Lauren Hutton's, "Good Stuff" make-up running. I'm one of the application models. And, Untold Stories of the ER, on TLC Monday's @ 9:00 PM are in re-runs now. I'm in 3 episodes: "Knife in Back", "Carbon Monoxide Family" and "...somebody gets run over." And a website up and running. www.perrysmith.biz Check out www.dnfhosting.com. It's a build your own website and have it hosted for as little as $4.99 per month. xoxoperry
Bookings
August 15, 2005
Hello, all. Hope everyone is doing well! I just booked a national commercial for American Airlines, which shoots in Dallas so I'll get to see some sisters, nieces and nephews to boot (meaning "in addition to", not to kick). I'm also in a Konika-Minolta commercial that is running during golf, so if you say you've seen it I know you're lying.
August is a good month
August 12, 2005
I am performing in the Impossible Film Projectand got cast in a short called Crescent Moon playing across studio-mate Erica Chen. I'm also auditioning like a mad man, having to turn down roles because of conflicts. Even when I don't get cast, directors write me personal notes like: Thank you for demonstrating your talented acting abilities for us. Our notes from the audition said that you were the best caucasian man who auditioned and "brought terrific energy" and that you "weren't scared to take the scene where it needed to go." You were one of the top contenders for the lead role. But after pain staking deliberation and for circumstances that in no way speak on behalf of your ability we had to choose someone else for the role. We were forced to base our decision off of the best combination of actors for the entire family rather than the best single actor. Believe me, you were one of the best that we saw out of twenty three men who auditioned for the role. With your permission I would be happy to offer your name and contact information to my friends and associates in the Bay Area Film and Video community if such an opportunity arises. It's beautiful to be an Actor.

Life in LA
July 7, 2005
I've been down here a year and a half... Things are going great and I'm really settling in to LA. Found a great apt.and have a great(pays well and flexible) "day job" working 1.5 to 2 days a weeks. I'm cast in another play at my theatre company (Company of Angels) called "XXX Love Story" about the Mitchell brothers of San Francisco, and the porn business. I play one of the narrators. It's such a great role because I just get to let all hang out...loud, sexually, ugly, dirty. Should be very therapeutic doing that 4 nights a week for 5 weeks. I have an infomercial running. Lauren Hutton's make-up line. I'm one of the application models. I just shot my first commercial last week. It's going to be running in select markets, don't know where, but it is for medical trials for insomnia. I also signed with a manager...we'll see. Hope all is well with you!

Whiskey Blue Director's Comments
January 12, 2005
KATARINA FABIC as "LOU LOU BLACK" Katarina graces the screen with classic beauty and poise reminiscent of the silver screen stars of yesteryear. Much to my delight as a movie-geek, she never ceased to deliver that Ingrid Bergman presence or Bette Davis style as the character called for a timeless appeal. She doesn't believe in the "method" and it's easy to see why upon directing her. Happy to be on set, she can lighten the load of everyone with her smile and turn on a dime into her character when the cameras are rolling. Her acting appears effortless while somehow maintaining an excellent attention to detail and integrity to the character she's playing. If you're fortunate enough to act opposite her you will be granted the greatest gift an actor can receive from their scene partner... an actress who can listen and react while raising the stakes of the performance quality for both of you. She knows when she needs another take and will continue to apply her time and energy, without complaint, to perfecting her own performance thus creating an easy environment for the director as an observer rather than a manipulator. Making movies is never glamorous and having an actress willing to get physically pushed to the limit every day with the hours and action required can be almost impossible. Katarina breaks that mold, without exception, for every fall, for every shot that takes many takes and for every lost night of sleep. She truly gave WHISKEYBLUE a level of production value unparalleled in independent film-making.
